The thing I like most about my car (besides it going fast) is that it looks stock. The front brakes are pretty much the only giveaway... unless you start looking underneath it you can't really see anything else.

When they were new... they were pretty fast.. but the bar has been raised so much in the last 10 years that you gotta make like 250hp+ and do 0-60 under 6 seconds to be called "fast" these days. Christ, the Lambo Countach would be considered a dog these days! I guess that's why the new Cobra makes 400hp... gotta stay ahead of the game!

Yeah, a stock 5.0 is fairly fast but a stock WRX is just as fast, if not quicker off the line cause of the AWD. And a stock WRX definitely out-handles and out-brakes a stock 5.0, especially the older pre-94' fox-chassis 5.0s. Guys with those usually just drag race them, they don't worry about turning or stopping. The 94' and up cars were definitely an improvement, they have a stiffer chassis and better brakes, but still not anything to be excited about. That's why most of my heavy modifications have been to the chassis/suspension and brakes on my car, cause I like to autocross. The power upgrades I've done at a much slower pace, cause it already had a fairly good engine... down here at sea level at least, up there in Reno/Tahoe it's definitely starved for air. And no Scott, I can't go forced induction, that would kick me out of street modified class. I think when this motor gives out in a few years I might have the block rebuilt with a 5.4L stroker kit... hehehe.

Dude... FRPP crate motor. Like this one:

Quote:
460 cubic inch. Engine dyno-tested at 535 horsepower at 6250 RPM and 530 ft./lbs. of torque at 4750 RPM. Using an 850 cfm carburetor and dyno headers (not included). 10.5:1 compression ratio (Nominal). Ford Racing "Victor Jr." single plane intake manifold M-9424-G429. Ford Racing "Cobra Jet" aluminum heads with Ford Racing valve train M-6049-B429. Ford Racing high performance hydraulic flat tappet camshaft M-6250-C460. 460 2-bolt main short block M-6009-D460, oil and water pumps, oil pan, flywheel, and harmonic balancer. Serious high performance engine for bracket race cars, Fox chassis cars, and marine applications.
Muahahhahha!! Yes, it says "Fox body" but they list 1979-95 'stangs.

I want that engine. Just to sit in my room or something....its so beautiful.

I, hopefully, in about a year or so would like to get into a 1987 or so Grand National. I want a boxy lookin sleeper car also. Plus they were pretty fast stock.

(I have too big of a want list....but hopefully this 'want' will come true)

I am not sure, but most grand nationals if not al of them were turbo. If that is just a regal, then it may not be.

Lol "marine applications"... yeah a racing boat, those ones you hear out on the lake at full throttle BWWAHHHHHAAAHHHHHAAAAAHHHHHHHAAAAAHHH. But a carburetor... no. I wouldn't give up fuel injection for that hassle. Second, that thing probably weighs half of what my car does all by itself and I doubt it would fit in my engine bay. Third, I have to keep my original block to stay legal for street mod... but, the displacement limit for N/A cars in SM is 6.0L, so a stroker would work just fine.

I was reading on Stangnet that somebody with a late 80s Grand National turbo had gotten his up to like 600hp or something ridiculous. I still think they should have put a big V-8 in there like the NASCAR Grand National cars had though.

You know what I just hear?

"Whaaa whaaa whaaa, blah blah blah... I'm a pussy, I don't want 500+hp cuz of a carburator... I have to stay legal... whaa whaa whaa... boats are cool... blah blah blah..."

BTW: there's a 600hp version of that motor too...

Oh, and that new high-tech 5.0 cammer motor rocks! 400hp, 32v DOHC EFI modular V8... it was the motor for the current cobra before they decided to go forced-induction.

NSX, yes... Ferrari, no (it's an MR2). The Ferrari is parked in the executive parking lot in the front of the building (550 Maranello, owned by the VP of my dept.... he's also got a Viper, PT Cruiser, and I think the GT-40 replica is his... )

Someday, I'll put up a "Cars of IGT" page... I got like 100 pictures of the sweet rides from our parking lot! Vettes, a sick RX7, Lotus Esprit (1984 yo!), like 5 WRXs, M3's... and so on, and so on...

Damn.....In my parking lot, there is a BMW Z3, and sometimes this guy brings his awsome 3000GT all modded out. Occasionally a few old BMW's and Mercedes. Thats it.

Yeah, if I ever changed the engine block in my car that 5.0 Cammer is the one that I would want.. even if it is like a $10000 engine. I'd just have to eat Ramen for a few years. Aluminum block, N/A 5.0L, 32-valve DOHC V-8, 430hp @6700RPM... how nucking futs is that, I can't even imagine how much fun that thing would be.

Here's a link so everyone can drool.

I know it's fast, I've seen slips. Also, he had M2 parts before they were out back in the day, so I'm pretty sure he was sponsered. Last someone told be he blew a tranny or something in the motor, so his car's probably jacked up right now. I dunno, I talked to him like 1.5 years ago and I don't have the best memory. All I know for sure is it ran low 12s and was rocking M2 stickers back in the day. I'll probably make it to another meet this summer.

I just orderd some new AXXIS brake pads and some SS brake lines trying to get ready for the autox season. Next I think I am getting a Vishnu intercooler hose kit, Perrin fuel rails with SX FPR then a set of GC06D wheels and I am set.
