Not my group of friends... none of us had fast cars... some had no cars at all. So screwing around on the streets just never happened. Granted, none of us were great drivers (due simply to inexperience) so we had some close-calls, but none of those were due to jackassery.

It doesn't require having a fast car, just a car. We were out there in celebrated speed demons such as a late 70's GM station wagon, my 87 Jeep, clapped-out Escort, Camry, etc.

It only took a couple times of doing this before I decided it was a Very Bad Idea and I was better off watching movies or other such non-insane activities on the weekends...

My High School Crew had Jeeps and Trucks, and we'd drive over shit before driving fast... (Except for when I had my Maxima )...

I got pulled over for driving thru a planter in high school. nuf said.

this will not work, sorry it just wont...................case in point is this thread!!!! Kids are not scared of what might happen to them, they are teenagers and think they can not be hurt. Thier really not going to be scared if you want them to be competitive on the track, not to mention as a parent it is real hard to lay down the law and stick with it. Don't you still want to play at the track, well your kids will work there way back also, then what rinse and repeat?

I never said that I expected my kids to be scared of driving as a means to keep them safe. However, if s/he has the experience to know how easily a car can get out of shape, and has a legal/safe outlet for driving fast, plus the additional zero tollerance threat of losing their driving privlages, I would hope they'd think long and hard before risking all that to screw around on the street.

Well i took the advice of Dean and started looking through the "search section" for some valuable informantion that this club has to offer all Subaru enthusiast. I am glad i took the suggested advice so i could come across post like this. I would like to start off by saying kids will be kids and this was some time ago. Bob is speaking about me. I thought i would tell everyone about myself to clear up confusion. I am Sam Marson and my father is Dave Marson. I was raised in an upper class family who is privileged by God to have the success our family has. My father has not made the best choices along like ALL other human beings. I don not think any of us will disagree. He did by me the car and it has been our ongoing project together. yes together. i am guilty of street racing in my past and i do believe it is stupid and irresponsible. Yes I am guilty of being a kid. Bob is a friend of mine so i do not want to "bash" him for this post. he is entitled to his opinion like this group should be entitled to the facts. when bob posted this I was in FACT living in beautiful sandpoint Idaho. FACT... my car still only has minor motor mods which do not produce anywhere near 400 wheel horse power. What was said was said and i am not mad about anyone "bashing" on me because it was produced from an untrue statement. I believe seccs is a great club with some great people; however, I do not think it is appropriate to "bash" on ANYONE you do not know. I was young with some karting experience yes... its true this does not mean i am a good driver although being a 16 year old male does not make me a bad driver. I am sorry this drama has to be even talked about especially years later but this is my name and i will stand up for it. I would love for anyone in this great club to get to know the real Sam Marson and if then you decide you do not like my values as a person you can "bash" me if you want. thanks

Morgan, I never held on to any of those hard feelings. We had our differences but we've grown up a lot since then. Next time I'm back in the country we should get the crew back together and have dinner. I think it would be fun to reminisce.

As far as bringing worthless threads back from the dead, I would like to clarify a few past details on my own behalf as well, in regards to the 'old Carson crew'.





I beat the hell out of the cars I drove in high school. No doubt about it. But it's not like I drove the piss out of them constantly, like every other douchebag of the time. Unfortunately, when I finally had a car that had less than 120,000 miles and wasn't purchased for less than $1,500, my bad habits manifested once again. Once I realized how badly I had treated the car, despite no structural or mechanical damage, I drove the car very conservatively the last 50k I owned it with the cobb de-tuned reflash it had always had . Even with all the thrashing, I am although, appreciative I had the chance to learn through experience and to use available resources. As well, i'm still thankful I had friends like you guys who understood the aspects of automotive mechanics as well (if not better) as I did. I would like to state (at least jaunt your memories) that I wasn't 'clueless' then, despite not yet taking advantage of the benefits of a wideband in conjunction with the use of nitrous@18psi, and i'm sure as hell not clueless now. Tim, I know we don't exactly see eye to eye, but I sincerely apologize for any and all harm I had caused you. Even though it's been years, i've always felt guilty. I was naive and foolish to be upset or angry about anything as well. Sam, was your description 'fine'; post or prior new longblock? Bob, where's my twenty bucks, slacker.

I had a 300hp car within a few months of getting my drivers license at 16. Except it was RWD, had belted-bias tires, 4-wheel drum brakes, and no rear swaybar. Sorry to drift back on topic...
