The journey always outweighs the destination.
Default The new Saab 9-3, born from WRX...

http://www.saabusa.com/saabjsp/93s/i...model_viewer=1

the similarities are very striking, and i know that the Swedes have used the WRX platform in the past to make 9-3's.

I'm not seeing the similarity. Do you think it looks like the 2nd gen or 3rd gen Impreza?

And the 9-2x was built on a WRX platform, I'm not aware that any of the 9-3 models ever were.

Yeah, I think you've got the 9-3 mixed up with the old 9-2x. These look nothing like a Scoob, are FWD, and the components and dimensions are way off.

And a turbocharged 2.8L 6 cylinder that only puts down 255hp? Subaru would never let that happen.

Also, Saab didn't make the 9-2x. FHI/Subaru manufactured it almost in its entirety. So, Saab never really had a hold of any plans or blueprints or whatnot.

The 9-3 is nothing like a WRX, except perhaps in that it's got a lot of turbo lag like the 2.0L WRXs used to.

And the reason the turbo 6 motor they're using is only 255 hp is because anytime you build a FWD car with much more than 250 hp, it drives like crap. Torque steer is unmanageable, tire wear is awful, the car power-on pushes excessively. That motor will probably make 300+ hp in the aftermarket.

But the AWD 9-3 promises to be a pretty nice setup. Not only do you get the haldex AWD setup, they also bump the boost and the motor makes 280hp.
