Dean, I may take that long block off your hands, but only at a ridiculously low price. Only because I'd have to bore it to 100mm to put my forged pistons in it to build up a new block that I'd probably just have to sell later anyway.

Seņor Cheap Bastard no comprende "ridiculously low"... (I need a Smiley in a Sombrero taking a nap emoticon.) I haven't spent any time looking to see what the going price on long or short block and the heads are on Nasioc, eBay yet... I bet it is a good bit higher than "RL".

Well, what are the compression and leak-down numbers on the long block? Did you check it before yanking it?

If you can't explain for sure what's wrong with the block, it's not worth much. And even then, if it's going to need work, it's still not going to come close to what short/long blocks are selling for. I'd guess $300 for the short-block tops, and $400 for the heads, since they're known not to be in 100% useable condition.

And for the record, $700 is more than I'd be willing to pay for the long-block... I just don't have the money to spend on a spare motor. But if you can't find anyone else, I'm an option if you want to unload some stuff cheap.

I would like the exhaust manifold if it has the heat shields (but not the uppipe). Also the alternator. We can work out a trade prolly.

Contact Justin Grimm(speed) if you want to unload the TGV housings. He usually gives a good price on cores for his delete business.

Dibs noted. Heat shields are making a minor swap with the driver side manifold and EGT, but you can have a full set I think.

No leak down.... Based on what I know about the motor, it is likely the only thing it needs is a once over bore and new pistons. Heads, crank and maybe even rods should be fine. It has always been well oiled and under detonated. I think the only reason the rings failed is after 85K of seating and wearing on the cylinder walls, I asked them to go an extra few thousandths of an inch by increasing boost and max RPM and then taking it to the track for 5K miles or so... Crashing into any cylinder wall ridge has got to hurt.

But anyway, unless I get a great offer, it is likely I will tear the block apart at least splitting the heads off for my own edification and investigation.

Briefly looking around Nasioc, it appears complete heads are $500 each or $1000/pair or more for low miles...

Blown short blocks in theoretically worse condition are $400?

Does that sound right?

So long block as is with all the pulleys, timing belts, covers, pan, plugs, coils, etc... $1750?

Like I said, unless somebody snatches it up, I'll probably finish the tear down.

I guess one way to price it: take what you just bought your new long block for, and subtract the cost for getting your current one into that condition... which, off hand, is probably ~$500-$1000 in parts, and ~$1000-$1500 in labor.

Updated First Post.

Somebody was asking about my '07 STI Top Feed 565cc injectors for their '02-06 WRX. Looks like they go for about $200-$300 on NASIOC, so first local $200 takes them.

Maybe. They really are a "race" lug though. Daily driver lugs really should be closed end. I used spline drives with the Lightstars as I recall.

Don't the lightstars have some narrow/deep lug holes? I thought you needed splinedrives on those wheels unless you've got some high-end thin walled sockets that can fit down the holes to get to the lugnuts.

I'll take a set. At some point I want to get extended lugs on my autocross car so I can use spacers.

Dean are you collecting old ipods? I found my moms old Ipod yesterday that uses USB 1.0 and it's the size of a brick with an actual wheel on it.

Can I interest you in a set of TGVs as well? Keep your stockers and take mine and finish the delete?

Hey Dean, if that piping with the generic CAI is aluminum, I will take the CAI. I might at some point have to do a custom intake on mine to get rid of all the plastic, and some of the parts might come in handy.

I should be at the meet tonight.
