Default Busted Lug nut... stupid air tools!

Well, the fellas over at Discount Tire used an impact wrench on my lugs... and while they only used it to zap the nuts on, and not to torque it, I think they damaged one of my lugs.

When I swapped my race tires on Friday, I had a hard time getting one of the nuts off the RF tire. Today when I swapped the P1's on, I sheared a lug taking that nut off. I'm pretty sure some of the other nuts are on their way down the road to shearing too, since they weren't all that smooth going on either.

This seems to be pretty epidemic with Discount Tire... they did the same thing to me roommate's Bimmer... 'cept he's got wheel bolts, no lugs. DT was super cool about it for him though, and even paid the $200 some odd dollars to get a new hub installed! Hopefully they'll be cool about it for me too and replace my stripped and sheared lugs and give me a replacement set of lug nuts.

Do you want some used studs in good shape? I've got a bunch of them.

Thanks for the offer, but I got it fixed at a shop on Discount Tire's bill. I just dropped it off at lunch and picked it up after work, problem solved. Unfortunately, now I have one mis-matched lugnut! Oh well, I already have a set of nuts on backorder anyway...

Now, I just have to hope none of my other studs go bad... keeping air tools off them's a good start.

Hey Gary, are you going to be a the ALMS race this weekend? A few of us from Reno are going... if you're there we should meet up for lunch or something on of the days!
