Snow Donkey's 2
Ok I hate to do this but Dean was right about my Falken 3 season tires. I think the 3 seasons they were talking about is Late Spring, Summer, and Early Fall, because they suck in snow.
I need to get some winter tires dammit. This is only the 2nd time I have driven this car in the snow, and its a whole lot different than my honda. No Snow donkey's yet, but I had a near miss already. Who will get the first one?

Sigh. It'll probably be me as I limp from Dayton to Carson on my re92s. This is my first winter with my RS.

The only other car I'd ever driven in snow was my Eagle. . . FWD (traction control, thankfully), all-seasons, and it was about 500lbs heavier.

Last night I was leaving the bar, Decided to stab the throttle just to see how slick it was with my re92's, IT instantly shot t 6 grand, so I grabbed second and stayed in it, the speedo hit 65 before I got bored and let her coast to my usual 20 mph. Moral of teh story, Buy real winter tires. RE92s are scary

Yah, my Proxes 4's seem no better than the RE92s. Accelerates well enough, but stopping on a decline+crappy Suby ABS=scary.

I've only driven one winter on real deal snow tires, and all in all, the RE92's ain't bad. I've certainly driven on worse.

I had a brief glimpse last night. I walked out of my room past my M3s in my living room out to my RE070 shod car. I was picking up someone from college terrace which is ~3 blocks away or so. It's doing fine all the way and it's even a bit hard to break traction. I stop at the final stop sign and pull away slowly to make sure i can stop. I hit the brakes at about 5mph and I start sliding and ABS kicks in. I let off and eased into the brakes, but only maintained speed that way. Anything harder I would lose traction. So I ended up sliding 300 feet or so onto Sierra. As we were leaving a snowball nailed my passenger side. What is wrong with some people?

Ok, I'm gonna stop bad-mouthing the re92s now. They did fine going to work and coming back, and after getting back I drove up the long dead end street here and proceeded to tear it up for a little while to get a feel for the car's limits. They're not bad as long as you drive moderately. I was going out of my way to break traction and even when I did, it returned very quickly due to AWD. The only real issue I see is the fact that since the car is so light (at least relatively), it has a tendency to follow ruts in the snow rather easily.

This was the first time this season I was really able to get wicked in the snow, and it was awesome. Almost came close to a donkey encounter a couple times but I saved it, or got lucky.
