Default Another New Road Course here in the West

Have any of you seen the progress and plans for the new 3.8 Mile road course in SALT LAKE CITY! WOW. Turns out the track designer is Alan Wilson, who had a hand in the design of Laguna Seca ages ago, as well as many other tracks across North America. I would consider heading out there next season. (can you tell I'm a little track hungry right now)?

Heres some pictures, All I can say is, I hope Reno Fernley gets the technical segment done soon.

That's sweet!

How long of a drive is it from Reno to SLC?

Mormon girls LOVE the berries- just tell them that they're Jehovah's berries...

The basic idea of the layout reminds me of buttonwillow. One long technical track that is easily divided into two short, relatively equal technical tracks, and multiple layouts. Given the fact that it's not being built for major motorsport use like Seca and Infineon get, I imagine the pricing for club days will be in line with Thunder Hill and Fernley, so I'd be down to go check it out once it's ready.

Yeah but PIR is supposed to be mediocre at best. What'd you think of it?

This track looks pretty sick, and if it's brand-new and built w/ some money behind it, I'd expect it to be a pretty nice place to run!

Now all I need is a truck and a trailer, since 8 hours in the WRX sounds like a shit drive!

That's a nice looking layout, any new tracks within an 8-10 hr radius is always good

Well I can see why you'd say its mediocre, its flat and only got 2 long straights and some corners inbetween. But it flows really well and has a nice rhythm to it. Plus it was wet when I was there, 2x the fun

That looks awesome. I do like how it has the opportunity for a crapload of different layouts.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to drive it someday, but an 8 hour drive to Portland vs. muc shorter drives to RFR, Laguna Seca, Thunderhill, or Sears Point... it's hard to justify.

Though, I remember liking Portland back when I played it in IndyCar Racing 1 and 2... but I think that was mostly because I could remember all the turns easily.

I saw the Stasis Engineering (Audi) Speed TC car hauler heading East on I80 Today. I wonder where they are headed. I believe there are a few weeks before the next Speed TC event. Perhaps heading to SLC? Or Pahrump or RFR?

It was a fully Subaru sponsored event and it only costed $20 for a track day ... that's justification for ya

Everyone had AWD when it started raining

ALMS has dropped their Infineon Date next July and replaced it with Utah,

Also, Rolex Sports Car Series(Daytona Prototype and Grand Am Cup) have announced a summer date at the Utah track as well.

Those are 2 big series, looks like it is going to be a serious race track!

The ALMS race in Salt Lake is on my birthday. We should go and destroy a hotel room or three

Yeah, I was thinking that could be a great weekend. I'm in.

I just want to check the F1 schedule, I think I want to hit one of the North America races next season.

Montreal. It shouldn't cost much more than going to Indy.

Plus, you may not even need a passport to get there! (At least I didn't need one the last time I went, but that was pre-9/11). Either way, I'm sure the red-tape involved in the trip is minimal, especially compared to going to somewhere like China.
