Default Used Autocross tires

Looks like Tyson already found them, but you might be able to get some decent Azenis for very cheap, make an offer...

Used race tires, eh? There's a good waste of money... how's the story go?

Ace was the local hero, winning his class every season. Billy dreamed that some day he could be as fast as Ace. So when Ace offered to sell him his old tires at half price, Billy jumped at the chance! $200 Hoosiers for olny $100!! What a deal! Even if they were a little worn they were better than $100 new tires, right?

Billy never noticed that because of his willingness to buy used tires, Ace was getting his Hoosiers at half price.

The moral of the story... buy your own tires, or you're keeping your competition in new tires at half price.

My point is that used tires are a bad deal, unless they're free.

I would agree with R compound because they should never see a 1st birthday, but for street tires that haven't been overly heat cycled, they aren't a bad idea IMHO. Effectivly, they are already shaved if worn evenly.

I say go for it if you can get them for under $40 a piece or so.

Hey Dean, wanna buy some Azenis off me? They still got a few autocrosses left in 'em. I'll sell you all four for $100.

Doesn't sound like the 60% tread ware in that post. The mount and balance costs of anything below about 50% make them not as good of a deal. And I know how yours have been heat cycled so thanks but no thanks.

I think as group SECCS motorsports, we should keep at lsast 4 used Azenis around in case we have a puncture, unusual wear, or cording. Something Big O could throw on Saturday afternoon, and you could run on Sunday if necessary. I have the storage space for them.

I was actually planning on getting a new set before the season begins. So I'll have 3 evenly worn Azenis and one with the inside edge a little over worn as backups. I think Matt's in the same boat, he's got 4 worn Azenis in his garage too.

Mine have a good deal of life left. Also, I have 1 spare RE070 for the first part of the season, then I'll switch to my Azenis to finish up.
