Nope, they split up the novices between the two groups to balance the numbers. I don't think you can pick and choose.

Yes, you can pick either group.

Yes, you can get twice as many runs. It is an extra $10 if you want to run in the afternoon and you have already run in the morning.

If we run in both groups do we get to pick the best run out of all 6-10 runs for use in points ? (novice points for now, saturdays goal. 1 pt ) in either case that's a lot of Extra seat time (a great mod i hear)

As a novice, you aren't running for points. That's the idea.

Ooooh. So we can Switch out of Novice (at some point) and then we can start collecting points (if we finish in 10th place or higher in our class) . wish the manual or the renoscca had a section on points and what not . I think I understand it now though so if i switch out of Novice after 4 events i can run the last 12 and treat the first 4 as my drops . (so i'll end up with how ever many points i get) Cool Beans.

also i noticed there is some sorta event in san fran, 15/16 IIRC (could have been 22/23 though) it was in one of the hand outs, i've was already planning on going down to SF one of those 2 weekends. our SCCA membership is good when we travel? do we get a card or something to prove we are a member? (lol anything for extra seat time right? lol)

If you joined the SCCA, you should get a membership card in the mail. You have to add a self pic and get it laminated though...I still gotta do that.

The pic isn't required for anything we're doing.

I'm sure there are things it would be needed for (like keeping you from ripping us off with someone else's ID card ) but I've never even had it mentioned to me. I suppose Track Trials and Hill Climbs might require it, and road racing.

Hill Climbs are way down the road man. There's nobody on this board even qualified for an SCCA Level 4 Club Trial, aka Hill Climb, except Gary Sheehan. And I don't think you need to get a photo on your ID to get into an SFR event. Your membership card + DL should be enough.

I've run with SFR, and yes, you'll need your SCCA membership card. When did you register? (If it was just last weekend, you could contact the membership person at the scca.com website, I'd probably call them if I were you, and ask them to fax you a confirmation letter that you are a member - If you want to run in SFR.)
Keep in mind - SFR typically has 3 runs total.

You have to be a member to run with SFR at all? Man, they really suck. I don't think I'd drive ten miles to run with SFR for fee.

They have to do that because they'd have 500 people showing up to run, and then the actual paying members would have to contend to run. That wouldn't be fair.

For non-members, there's always American Autox.

Points are regional in nature. They're documented in the Reno SCCA Supplemental Rules:

http://www.renoscca.com/results/2006...lo2%20Sups.htm

And I second Debbie's recommendation of American AutoX. AAX is run by a great group of people... they're not quite as pro-active as the Reno SCCA group as far as helping out new drivers IMO, but if you ask for help, someone will always be willing to point you in the right direction. In addition, the events they run out at Castle AFB in Atwater tend to be amazing, high-speed, extremely fun courses. I try to make at least one of their events every year. Somehow, I managed to keep my annual tech through 2004 with them, but lost it in '05 'cause my car was down for so long.

Also, AAX has some *incredible* cars. They're very "American Iron" in nature and there are some serious C-Prepared beasts out there. Keep an eye on the Maier Racing cars... Mike Maier is consistantly in the running for the top spot at Nationals in his CP mustang.

Check out their website: http://www.americanauto-x.com/

Well i checked and there are no phone numbers listed on the renoscca.com contact page. And i just checked my mail. And i do not have have proof of being a member. Does anyone happen to have a contact number of someone who may be able to fax me proof of membership?

Thank You
