Welcome to the board!

Which Impreza did you get? The RS does well with the normal intake/exhaust mods that most cars like... the WRX and STi love reflashes to safely unlock the boost, as well as exhaust mods.

All Imprezas get much quicker with springs or coilovers, and swaybars... and of course wheels and tires are the #2 thing that make a car faster (#1 is the driver).

As long as you've got cash to throw away, the sky's the limit on mods.

Welcome to the board. I think we have one or more of every type of Impreza, so I'm sure there's plenty of ideas for mods.

Welcome. I'm Dean, and my job is to disagree with everything Scott posts.

Scott is refering to faster in the corners for the most part. If you want to go faster in a straight line, well that's a little different. I guess stickier tires and lighter wheels would help, but the coilovers and such won't.

Give us a budget, we'll tell you what to buy...

Who cares about going fast in a straight line, with the exception of trying to get to the next corner faster than the other guy.

+1 there. . . is it an RS, WRX, or STi? If it's an RS or WRX, I'd definitely hold off on the power mods until after some wheels/tires and a bit of suspension work. The stock suspension was the first thing to come off of mine. Too mushy.

Congrats on the purchase!

Welcome, it looks like you purchased an RS, I also own one, ('05) use your hard earned duckets to bye suspension, we don't even get as firm as the stock wrx, by far the best mod I have done is added a Rear sway bar, mounts and endlinks. Made the car alot more lively, since N/A tuning can get expensive, and produce marginal gains, spend you're money learning to drive, just like the other guys said. There is a collective wealth of knowledge on this board and the folks on here are more than willing to help!

Anyhoo, I concur with bruspeed. NA mods give only small gains, so the best investments will first be on handling improvements.

And I don't really mean investment. . . I just couldn't think of a better word. Like Mike K warned me before I purchased my coilovers:

look at his posts carefully. there is stuff typed in bold at the top, like a label. That's where he said he got an RS.

I know, I just hadn't seen it. I ususally don't pay any attention to reply titles, because most folk don't seem to use them.

I think a fully built Axis block should be your first mod.

Just kidding man, welcome aboard. I would definately suggest suspension, wheels, and tires. They still putting Potenza RE92's on the Impreza's? If so, they suck.

Welcome. Intake and a catback are good first engine mods. Injen is the only company that makes a good CAI for the '06 as far as I know. You can get a full catless exhaust of ebay pretty cheap these days, so that might not be a bad idea. The car won't be a lot faster, but you will notice it pulls harder and sounds much better. I think everyone else has the suspension stuff covered.

They don't suck outright, but only on a relative scale. It's silly to expect more from a set of all-seasons.

Man, I saw the wheel gap on the new RS and memories of excessive body-roll came flooding back to me. RS suspension is incredibly mushy. Many of the WRX/STi owners here won't really have quite the same feel for this, as they start out with stiffer stock springs than the RS, but I can't stress enough how big an improvement it will be to lower the vehicle and stiffen it up a bit. A KYB AGX strut and Ground Control spring combo would be a great start, with a RSB and some summer rubber making a good follow-up in a few months.

I KNOW you don't have any interest in arguing about this and neither do I, but I guarantee that the Toyo Proxes 4's I'm running are better on every surface including snow. They're a infinitely better in the dry and only slightly better in the snow.

I'll argue it. My parents have an '05 Legacy. They put snow tires on it for the winter. My mom, when she first drove the car with the snow tires on it, said, "Wow those other tires are really bad, maybe we shouldn't put them back on the car in summer." RE92s are not good tires. My Contis are better in every weather condition. sk8ersvm, new tires are definitely a good mod.
