NASIOC thread with comments from WRX Owner:

Synopsis-

Guys hands Porsche GT3 over to his friend. Friend misses the brake in the run off after the finish, and hits the clutch instead. GT3 slides into Celica (competitor) and than a WRX Wagon (spectator) which in turn hits the Audi (also spectator). Thankfully, no one hurt.

Well, the spectators are covered by their insurance... (and that Celica needs to become a "spectator" ASAP)... but the GT3... Hope the owner is actually super rich, instead of just rich enough to own a GT3.

Yeah, the owner of the wagon says his insurance is covering it, but then going after the driver of the GT3 (not the owner).

See how lucky we are with our Stead site and the isolated paddock.

Also shows why we are so conscious of the runoff at the finish.

Wow. And I thought it was bad when a wheel/tire came off on course and went flying through the paddock at Cal Expo a few years ago.

That was at Mather IIRC. I think the one time I ever ran there.

It's all a haze these days... I can't remember, other than the image of a fat Vette tire skipping through the finish and into the side of a truck.

Well, Some genious posted a message about this incident on the general SCCA Mail list. Like it hasn't been beaten to death enough already. Accidents happen, let the SCCA and lawyers sort out the mess now and move on. Just like Reno SCCA's incident in 2004, it is 99.9% driver error caused by someone driving having a total brain lapse. We will continue to build safe course in Reno and believe that our rules and regs will work.

Yeah, I saw a video of the finish at some point. Seems like the finish was as safe as can be, and this one was a driver brain lapse.

Hope it all gets worked out soon.
