I'm lost at these results. What do the topics listed per candidate even mean, are those supposed to be the things the candidate and I agree upon? That doesn't seem right, since Paul scored 16, but has the longest list of matching topics. I guess he only agrees with my "meh" topics?

I went over to the http://www.2decide.com/table.htm site that the quiz pulls its data from. I'm astonished at the number of candidates that oppose gay marriage.

Without getting into an argument on the subject, I assume it's because supporting gay rights is political suicide. Which to me is a pretty sad state of affairs... that supporting equality between citizens is somehow a bad thing. I guess it's because most of America is straight and doesn't really care one way or the other since it doesn't effect them much, but the really vocal people are either gay or rabid homophobes (who are also probably gay and in denial <snicker>) and it seems the homophobes outnumber the gays.

Am I the only one that sees the gay rights movement to be the same thing as women's rights, or racial equality, etc? Don't people realize that in the future this sort of discrimination will seem as silly as segregation?

Actually the "godless" comment is probably the biggest piece of the gay marriage issue. Lots of people oppose gay marriage because their religion opposes it.

IMO, that's perfectly acceptable. Religion is supposed to be separate from government. As far as religions are concerned, there's nothing stopping a church from setting their own rules for marriage. My issue is when those religious rules are enacted in law regarding the civil aspect of marriage.

Marriage is not just a religious ceremony, it's also a civil union, and I have an issue with placing restrictions on a government program (as it were) based on sexual preference. That's plain old discrimination, IMO. So, it's fine if a church wants to say "we won't marry gay couples, and we won't recognize gay marriages", but any two people should always be allowed to get married at the courthouse and receive all the rights and benefits of being a legally married couple, regardless of sex, creed, color, etc.

Forget gay rights, I'm astonished that pretty much the entire republican slate has been all for wiretapping without warrants, detention without due process of law, torturing captives... pretty much ignoring the bill of rights whenever the federal government deems it "necessary". All in the name of Fighting The Terrorists! What. The. Fuck? A War On Terror is by definition a war without end, and war is the quickest way possible to consolidate the power of the state and take away individual liberties.

This mentality will be the death of our republic. Mark my words. It won't all come crashing down tomorrow, or next week, or even 10 years from now, but it will happen eventually. The pieces are being set in place.

And no one seems to notice that less government control/involvement is supposed to be the backbone of Republican policies.

It's scary when the Democrats are the voices of reason when it comes to government respect of individual rights.

Yeah. When exactly did we land in Bizzaro world? I haven't watched Star Trek lately, does Spock have a goatee here too?

The worst part about it is whoever the dems throw into the race is going to get a free pass in (flinch) hilary. I would love to see Edwards but I'm afraid thats just not going to happen.

This one's a little better IMO:

But they both gave me the same result:

Wow, I'm surprised, I think this is a fairly accurate test. It calls me a Fiscally-minded conservative with liberal social views...Which is pretty accurate considering I'm a filthy card-carrying Libertarian. Basically, I can sum up my views... "Legalize Marijauna, but don't dare tax me or I'll shoot ya!"

Wow look at you go! Your wife must be so proud of you!

What I find interesting is that nearly all the well known politicians are on the authoritarian half of the board. I guess there's some truth to people that are in power are for having a system where there are people in power.

I guess I thought the questions were a little too general and/or leading.

I'd have predicted I landed in liberal/libertarian land like most of you. Socially I'm pretty liberal, fiscally I'm not opposed to most government programs, I just wish they were managed better.

More where I would class myself.

I'm all for individual freedoms in most cases, but I'm really not bothered by government involvement in most aspects of life that we're currently implementing government programs.
