Default Half price computers!

I have been in the market for a new PC lately ... I have been getting sick of pedalling my old crappy machine. Today a friend at work sent this page to me ...

http://www.aicomputers.com/

spec out a system then enter coupon code '101hfgs' and you get a 50% discount. I just ordered a $3000 machine for $1500! I did a search on the web to see what this is all about and came up with this:

http://www.3dgameman.com/dealsmain.php

Apparently the deal expires today. Sorry for the late notice, but I just found out myself. I did a bit of a search for info on this company and they "seem" legit. I guess I will know in a couple of weeks when it all shows up

ResellerRatings.com is the best place to check when thinking about buying from a tech company.

From the comments there, it seems they are the same as this company.

50% off of reasonably priced computer components is in the "seems too good to be true" category. Margins on most of this stuff are between 5-30%. It generally is tough to get a good discount below the going price at an online vendor because of this.

I frequent the AnandTech Hot Deals forum (http://forums.anandtech.com/categori...=40&entercat=y) and FatWallet.com, and those are the two best places for looking for and evaluating "steal" prices. It does happen, just not terribly often and not for very long.

I saw the resellerratings page before I ordered, I figured the worst that can happen is I have to spend an hour on the phone to the credit card company to get my money back

I'm really temped to jump on this deal too, but I don't really need a system right now... hopefully the discount is legit and they're just trying to clear out stock or something. Notice that it only works on *complete systems*... perhpas they've just got a bunch of cases and drives and fans lying around they want to get rid of.
