OMG Internet!
Default WTB: Screws

Anyone know where I can find replacement screws for the OEM crossbars on my wagon? I looked everywhere and they must have got misplaced in the move. These are what allow the OEM crossbars to clamp onto the roof rails. The screws have a Torx head with a dot in the middle to make it so a standard Torx screwdriver won't work. Is this something I can grab from McMaster Carr, Ace, etc. or should I hit up the dealer? I'm going to need the "allen" wrench too since that was stored with the screws.

McMaster will likely have better screws for cheaper than the dealer. You just need to figure out the size.

But I want someone else do to that for me. I'll probably just save myself the trouble and hit up the dealer...or the rack company that I bought my racks from.

IIRC, the screws that came with the crossbars didn't have the dot in the middle of the torx depression, but either my Yakima bike rack or ski rack came with them. Hmmmm.

Can anyone with crossbars on their wagon let me know what the torx depressions in the head of the bolt looks like?

If you could measure the thread pitch, diameter and length, that would probably help him too.

Let me know when you have sent Ryan payment, I'll deliver those Volks straight to my garage, and send you the screws as a trade.

Mine is a torx t-30 head, I don't see any dot in the middle though. I will text you pics in a few.

Thanks, Dude. I'm gonna try to find the ones with the dot for security. They must have come with my Yakima ski rack or Yakima bike rack.

Go to any auto parts store and buy a pack of security bits. There will be Torx Plus and security Torx in there.

I have set of these. Most any security bit you will ever need except a really tiny tri-point for wii remotes.

I got some allen screws at Ace for under $5 as a temporary solution. The guy from ORS Racks called me back today and left me a vm indicating they do have the same "security" bolts I had before. Not sure on price but I'll call him tomorrow.
