Lots of donkeys out up here at the lake yesterday. Passed a stuck car, then a stuck SUV on dubs on my way up Country Club drive, then right after that witnessed an accident. SUV slid around a corner and hit head on into the ford ranger in front of me... Glad I always try to leave extra space

It's hard to find. Maybe you can talk Sid into a discount for you, but around here pretty much everyone that gets tires that TR sells gets them direct from them, so they're all the same price.

On the other hand, it's almost January and you are just now buying snow tires. Good luck with that.

Costco only has Michelins for snow tires, so still pretty pricey. When I was shopping 2 months ago, it was cheaper for Dunlops at TR, than for Hankooks at Discount Tire.

Do DT or Big O have the cheapo generics? Not as good as Revo1s or Dunlops, but better than any all seasons.

Yeah, well the WRX has Blizzaks on it and it is being sold with them...the STi has Azenis on it and I am not driving those in the rain, let alone the snow

Since we're supposed to get 6 inches + in Stead tonight and I have to drive Amanda to work (leaving earlier and driving out to Moana), I expect tomorrow won't be so pleasant of a commute.

Crazy.. 3 hours? really? wtf that's Insane!

Worst i've had so far is about 80 minutes this winter. Think it took me 90 minutes once last winter to go up in my 93 FWD, all seasons and open diff. spooner was a worry cause i knew if i had to stop i wouldn't get going until the snow melted. Normally it takes me 1 hour flat .

The only part of my drive where i get caught driving with lots of massively under prepared drivers is the washoe flat. Even though its completely flat and straight i've seen a few car accidents there just this winter already!

Spooner seems to scare off most of the non 4wd/awd snow tire peeps and generally the slowest traffic going up is still doing 30-35. I'll do the limit up or down in the snow. esp with studded snows. just have to watch out for slushy and glare ice conditions. but packed snow i just set the cruise control at my normal commute rate.

oh discount tire hooked me up with studded snows 175/70/13 @ about $6 under the tire rack price :O ... but it also looks like it will be a total of 2 weeks before they arrive. lolz. and i'm not having them mounted there, they are a lil too pricey at $20 a pop.

General Altimax Arctic are my new favorite cheap snow tire. 78 a piece, most places have them. I'm over Blizzaks and such since I wear them past the good grippy part too fast.

You should try the premium "winter performance" tires like Dunlop 3Ds instead of the pure studless ice and snows. They last longer, but don't give up all that much. I think my Dunlops were only like $90 apiece last year.

That is the same reason I went with the Hankook W400s. I wanted something that didn't suck as a A/S summer tire when they wore down.

That's actually the reason why I picked up my Falkens.

I don't think think donkeys will be dumping much tonight, but what they do dump is going to be super slick tomorrow morning.

24" at my house. The schools are closed and I am home with the kids. Looks like we are getting another foot today and supposedly a really big storm tomorrow.

It ended up not coming down nearly as bad as expected in Reno. The roads were super slick at 10:30 last night, but I guess it kinda petered out sometimes last night.

It's just showering off and on here at IGT. Just on the cusp between rain and snow.

I hear the sierra is getting hammered right now though.
