Snowboarding....Because gravity is cheaper than gas
Default FREE: 02 struts/ springs....

The only thing I'm missing is the top hats. Otherwise I just need to get rid of them.
They need to be gone by the 18th at the latest, then they get fed to the dumpster.

Wish they were from a MY04-07 wagon. I'd gladly give you a hundred dollars for the struts alone.

Actually, now that I think about it... if I were to revert the car back to stock '02 suspension to sell as a roller, that would mean going back to the 5x100 hubs... which I don't really want to do. I think I need stock '05 STi struts to go back to "stock".

So, um, nevermind...

^I know how that feels.^ When you say left do you mean driver side? If so, I have a strut from my 04wrx that you can have. I know that it is preferable to swap both sides at the same time but, if your interested, even as a temp to stop eating tires, then its yours.

Especially if you put a peanut eye rear strut on a bugeye. He'd want to use peanut eye tophats which might effect ride height a touch. Though I'm not exactly sure.

yeah, that would be awesome.. would i see any difference in having one 04 and the rest 02s? even if they have the same springs...

edit- would the top hats that come off of my current struts work? cause the post above me made me worried... im kinda in a financial crisis, otherwise i would look at this situation as an opportunity.
thanks guys.

Okay, take a look at this.

(For the record, I used grade 9 washers with an ID of 9/16” and an OD of 1-1/8”, this illustration isn't mine)

The strut on the right is the same as yours. I don't think Juice's strut would fit without the tophat too...well it'd fit but that corner would be raised half an inch or so taller than the other 3. You can add washers or a spacer if you're putting bugeye struts in a peanuteye but you can't remove metal if you do the opposite. So you'd need a peanuteye tophat and then I think ride height should be close. Also, the spring perches on the bugeyes are made for wider diameter springs, so your spring might be a little tight in the perches, but it should work. My Crucial springs are a little narrow for my perches, but I haven't experienced any issues.

I dont understand how you bend the strut. that has to take a pretty strong lateral force wouldnt it? And then wouldn't it bend the control arm and the links as well? I have put my truck on its side partially and still not bent the struts....

minor accident (my car was parked) with a girl who just got her license and a brand new car from mommy and daddy fucked up my rim too, the control arm and the links are still in ok working condition...

Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.

I was going to guess that the rim got hit at or near the top or bottom. It is hard to bend a control arm that is almost in line with any lateral force at rest, but easy to apply torque to a strut that is at a right angle to any lateral force.

Sucks for you. Any parent should have the morality to pay for it though especially since their daughter hit your car...

just a thought.

yea... its a long story, and aside from minor strut damage, there is nothing else (paint... etc) damaged, so after trying to get something out of her parents i said screw it.

Send them a letter from "your lawyer" with the repair estimate for a new strut from the dealer.
