your gonna' have to face it your addicted to BOOST!!!

sometimes i think boost is an addiction...one is always trying to get more, the longer you have it, you seem to get used to it and need a bigger dose. right now im cold turkey and this grand am isnt cutting it..hehe. but at least when i get my car back it'll be a fresh dose of pure RS-T.

STIwish 2004-03-03 04:39 PM

I completely agree, boost is an addiction... i went cold turkey and am still to this day feeling the need for boost everytime i hop in my crap ass Geo.

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-03-03 06:45 PM

Or you could just get a larger engine.

Yeah like a VR6!!

AtomicLabMonkey 2004-03-03 06:54 PM

Or even something with 8 cylinders!

There's nothing like the feeling of torque, boys. :P

BADBORA 2004-03-03 08:06 PM

Yeah no kidding, my car is mostly stock but even like that it produces some good torque.

drfunk 2004-03-03 08:19 PM

my girl is looking at jetta's and ive been pitching the vr6 to her for a while.
as for v-8 power im helping restore my buddy joe's american muscle. he just recently wrecked his 65 nova after we spent so much time building it, motor and tranny are good so now were are finishing up with the upper end of the motor...450 hp!!....but its still not the same as my RS-T..

BADBORA 2004-03-03 08:21 PM

Yeah I talked to joe last thursday and he was telling me about the nova. Sounds like a pretty sick car. The VR6 is a great ride, sure there are a lot more mods for 1.8t's but just having a VR6 for bragging rights is awesome.

STIwish 2004-03-03 08:25 PM

Bragging rights == Turbo VR6 in MKI chassis :)

BADBORA 2004-03-03 08:27 PM

Hell yeah, I've seen a few of those. :D

STIwish 2004-03-03 08:33 PM

Yeah, but have you seen one try to turn ;)

BADBORA 2004-03-03 08:35 PM

Uhhh. no I haven't what's the deal with that?

STIwish 2004-03-03 08:40 PM

heh, dont you hang out on the vortex?

LVSUBARU 2004-03-03 08:40 PM

I'm also in the "cold turkey" club. I blew up my RS-T(due to the addiction) and I'm now building a STi block.

holly crap how big of a dose did you take man?

LVSUBARU 2004-03-03 08:45 PM

It spiked to over 10psi. I'm not exactly sure. I melted a three inch long peice of my ring lang off! 8)

STIwish 2004-03-03 08:46 PM

Very nice ! At least you still have your car though.

LVSUBARU 2004-03-03 08:52 PM

Yeah.
On to bigger and better things................ 8)

drfunk 2004-03-03 08:57 PM

what kind of settup were you using at the time? stock internals? im assuming you didnt have enough fuel to compensate for +10psi

LVSUBARU 2004-03-03 09:02 PM

Yeah, stock internals. I was running a AFPR, and a RRFPR. And just the stock ECU. I had a J&S safegaurd, but it didn't do jack! I think the situation was more than the J&S could handle. I didn't have a boost controller. I was only using the external wastegate for boost control.
So I highly recomend a EBC to anyone doing a RS-T! I think it would have saved my motor.

drfunk 2004-03-03 09:08 PM

hmm for it to just spike up like that randomly..maybe the wastegate line was rubbing on something and wore a puncture in it. im constanly watching my boost and air/fuel. every once in a while ill have to tweek with the timing but that is cake. i have a turbo xs boost controller and i love it.

LVSUBARU 2004-03-03 09:12 PM

It got real cold, real fast one week and the boost started to slowly creep up the colder it got. Then Boom!!! I still don't quite understand what happened.
