Car: 2003 Mitsubishi Evo8 Class: SM Snowboarding....Because gravity is cheaper than gas | New WRX decision... please weigh in

Looking into get a new WRX right now, either out here or flying across the country to pick one up. The one out here needs a paint job, new windshield and tires. The one out in Mass. is ready to rock. Both are stage 4s. I need to know the aproximate cost of a paint job for a whole car, sti spoiler, and wrc roof scoop. Here are the links to the 2 cars. The silver widebody is the one out here, the blue one is in Mass. Cali --- http://www.i-club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=110014 Mass.---http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=835690 help me make my decision... please weigh in |

Being upgraded turbo cars it's lkely they were driven pretty hard. no matter what they say. The silver has less miles on by half. That's a lots of fab work done to the silver hopefully it can stand the test of time. If it were me I wouldn't touch those cars with a 10 foot pole. I would be really weary about buying a modded car. I wouldn't unless I knew the the person selling the car personally and even then I would be cautious. Paint jobs can range anywhere from $2,000-$10,000 depending on the quality. It would be easy to call and get a quote from a paint shop. I think the real STi wings like the S202 are about $1200.00. The silver one looks like less of a risk I guess? So I vote silver.

I don't like the widebody on the silver one, usually they look good but there is just something askew...

On a stage 4 WRX I would be concerned about the transmission. An unmodded STi is better in every way than a modded WRX, except maybe top end power. What are used STis going for these days? |

considering the amout of mods put into that car and the very very low price that he is asking i would have to say that i think there must be something wrong with the car. either the transmission is going bad...or the motor isnt running very well. i mean a stock 02-03wrx probably would sell privately for arround that much. getting a stage4 with only 15000 miles sounds too good to be true. if you are able to get to the car and drive it before you buy it then i would consider it...but buying it without seeing it would be a bad idea in my opinion. i have a stage 4+ put into my car and i luckly havent had any major problems, but i have had my fair share of stupid ones.(coil pack blown, oil leak, coolant leak, tons of cel codes, etc...) trust me when you modify a car that much something is bound to go wrong. like i said if you can drive it first and then buy it that would be your best bet. if you say that a used sti is too expensive for 21000 then i would buy a used wrx that is stock for as low as you can and put whatever you have left into it. my two cents ryan |

I can't stand the hood on the Silver one. Maybe it will look better painted, but I think that car is fugly. The blue one is nice looking though. But I agree that buying a used WRX that has been modded to that extent is insane. I'd definately buy a used STI instead.
