Its sad i know, but my car is Automatic. So who wants to let me drive their car and teach me the skimmy. :wink:

I'd suggest you find someone with a FWD beater to teach you to drive stick.

AWD (and Subaru's especially) makes it a lot harder to drive than a FWD Honda or something of the sort. All that drivetrain momentum means the bucking can get rediculous, and can damage the car a bit easier. Add to that the fact that most of us have significantly more power than stock, and stock gearboxes that can barely handle it, you'll be hard pressed to find someone willing to let you have at it.

You got a sister/friend/cousin or someone in the family w/ a Geo Metro? That's your best bet. Or do what I did and jump in a CAM car at Altamont Speedway and have at it.

I've let Dean, Scotty B, Aaron, my friend kellie in SF and one female friend drive my car. Only Dean didn't look like a complete retard, but he had the good luck do be driving it at the autocross, which takes all the difficulty out of not lurching and stalling.

In my defense, it was the first time I had driven stick in ~3 years, and the last RS I drove was stock (totally different car)

God, I need to drive a 5speed again.
Well, actually, I just need to get insurance sorted on my new car, heh.

You are lucky to have a mom who loves you.
I have heard of others, a couple of guys in Carson City come to mind, who are paying that much - maybe more. Be good, keep up the grades, don't get into any trouble or don't get any tickets, and soon enough it Won't be $300 a month anymore.
