			Well, I figure I should start looking for a 6-speed in earnest.  I still can't actually afford one, but I figure it will take some time to find one, so hopefully by the time I get a source, I'll have the money. 
		
		
		
		
		
		
			So I need two things: a comprehensive list of parts that I need for the swap, and a place to sell me said parts. What I really want is a JDM 6-speed (closer ratios than the US STi) *without* the DCCD (I figure it's an unnecessary expense for a pure-tarmac car). I'd really like a set of Cusco or Quaife tarmac diffs for the tranny as well. Here's my parts list so far: - JDM 6-speed non-DCCD transmission - R180 rear-end housing - Excede Clutch and Lightened Flywheel - Cusco Front/Mid/Rear diffs (may not need the rear diff, R180 might be good enough) - Custom axles that mate the R180 to WRX rear hubs - or - STi rear axles, rear uprights/hubs, rear brakes - Do the front WRX axles work w/ an STi tranny? - Do I need a different drive shaft? - Starter - Tranny mount - STi short shifter linkage - STi shift knob w/ reverse lockout - STi shifter boot - Installation Anyone know how much I should expect to pay for all that? Also, keep in mind that I'm planning on an STi or EJ22T block and VF22/Large TopMount in the future. I don't think there are any compatability issues with a JDM 6-speed, but just in case, I'm mentioning it.

 6-speed gear ratios will also make my car *much* faster w/o having to even touch the motor. Especially the close ratio JDM gearset. As it is, the ratios used in the US 5-speed are designed to keep you out of boost to save gas and help emmisions. Since this is my track car... screw saving gas, and screw the environment... 1000 miles a year a 7mpg isn't gonna kill the spotted owl. Plus, the SVX keeps asking me for a 5-speed swap, and guess what, the WRX 5-speed is as drop in as they come...

			Gruppe-S would be the quickest solution, if you're willing to work with them and basically place an order for what you want. Also, try talking to Nate, he has connections at Chaste Auto, and they do some importing. Alex at BozzSpeed can hook us up with Cusco diffs pretty cheap, so if you're serious about that part, let me know. Otherwise, you've mostly got it covered- it takes lots of parts, but getting them all at once isn't that big a deal. Also keep your eye out for deals like I got- get a US spec drivetrain and all the bits, then trade the gearbox and DCCD parts for a JDM box and cash.  I'm not planning on making more power quite yet. The tranny will not only prepare the car to handle more power, it will also make the power I've got now a whole lot more useful. I'm hoping w/ the close ratio 6-speed I will be competitive with the NESP STis running against them from NSM. Sure they'll still have about 30hp over me (you bastards and your re-maps) but I think my suspension and brakes still a tiny bit better. If I can make better use of the power I've got, I think I can hang. The additional power comes later... maybe next year. Unless I find a complete STi drivetrain for cheap. (Hey what tranny came on the v7 JDM STi? It was a 5-speed wasn't it?
