Question weird idle noise??

My car has about 70,000 miles on it now. I just started noticing a noise coming from the passenger side, front of the engine, upper corner by the timing belt. It sounds like a brushing/rubbing noise, at a constant pulsating rate. The car runs fine and I only hear it at idle. It almost sounds like a bearing needs to be oiled. Any ideas on what it might be? Thanks

Do your bearings need to be oiled?

But seriously, it could be an idler pulley or something in the timing-belt loop.

A makeshift stethascope made of just a piece of hose may help you narrow down the problem maybe.

I inspected my belts, turned out my alternator belt was getting old and the teeth were coming off. I replaced both belts and wanted to make sure I tightened them correctly. I gave them about a 1/4 to 1/3 inch of play (read that in another forum). They seem to running fine, not slipping. Is that the right tension?
