so I was illegally racing a ferrari when oh noes!
but seriously, floored it coming up mccaren and spun the clutch at the top of third. guess im making too much power finally. anyone have any opinions on sti after market clutches? im thinking ill rock the twin carbon cusco, or just the twin plate. they seem to be cheapest and best way to go.

I like the ACT unsprung 6 puck that Dean put in his Sti. I'm pretty sure it's what I'll be doing soon. Dean let me drive his and I like the feel, it's still moderatley streetable but holds like hell.

I don't know which flywheel he used, does it say in his thread? I think GST did his install, so it must have been a good deal on it.

Actually, it specifically says so in Dean's thread... "streetlight". It's the same setup I put in Ryan T's car a short while afterwards.
REALLY nice feel to it on high power cars, without being too much of a PITA to drive.

Most of the time, cars that are regularly driven on the street will be a HUGE pain with too light of a flywheel... The lack of inertia causes it to be a bitch in stop and go traffic. The seriously light flywheels are typically left alone by guys that want to, or have to drive their cars on the street at all.

easily said for an unsprung clutch as well.
im well aware of the disadvantages of both. if 6 puck... whynot super light ? would actually make things easier on the clutch. more rotational weight would make the unsprung clutch feel worse but if the flywheel is light then its less noticeable, buy actually a big difference.

We run the unsprung 6 puck in the race cars but with the Prolite flywheel, not sure I would want to drive that on 880 freeway at 8am Monday but makes for a great race setup. Mike |

ACT 6 Puck w/Streetlight FTW. It will launch like nobody's business at autocross and is still very streetable.
It is already a bit weird on up shifts having to almost sort of rev match. The ultralight would just spin down too fast and not be fun on the street IMHO.

I've got the 4 puck ACT and the Prolight. I wouldn't want to drive it on the street regularly, but it's not impossible.
Let me put it this way, if "10" is the stock clutch's driveability, and "1" is un-streetable, I'd give the 4 puck and prolight a 3. The exceedy hyper-single I had before, I'd give a 4, maybe a 5. From what people tell me, the 6 puck/streetlight is probably a 6 or 7.

I had a Exedy Twin HD in my evo. On scotts scale I would give it about a 7-8 but I don't know if they make them for the sti? The evo guys use them to up around 450-500 whp. My kit came with a flywheel.
