I once had a tonsil swell up so big it almost sealed off my throat. I was spitting in a cup because swallowing just wasn't happening. The Urgent Care Doc-in-a-Box put me on antibiotics but it just got worse. So I ended up in the ER late one night. The ear/nose/throat guy on call showed up He was this big m-f'er with huge hands, and he proceeded to hold my mouth open wilst he lanced the cyst without giving so much as an aspirin and only a little novacane. Nothing like the feel of a cold scalpel to the back of the throat, huh? And the taste - OMFG. I kicked and screamed so bad they heard me in the waiting room. You should have seen the look on the nurse's face. She talkied him into giving me a shot of Demerol afterwards. I wish I could remember his name, because you DO NOT WANT HIM to go near you. I considered a restraining order myself. He told me I needed my tonsils out, and told him maybe but there would be "no f***ing way you will be doing it".

Anyway... I still have what's left of mine 7 years later.

Wow! My Doctor is Dr. Romaneschi and he is one of the best doctors i've heard of!

That is not him. I just googled and I think I remember now, but I do not want to say who unless I am really sure.

I finally got my tonsils out on Wednesday and this is the worst pain ever!! I can't eat or drink anything!!

Yeah it's no fun! I overdosed on my pain meds so I'm not taking as much.

I must have done the same when I had knee surgery last time. After 3 days of misery I decided that no meds was better, so I cold turkeyed 'em. I really can't see how it is possible to get hooked on those, bleh!

Yeah the antibiotic is fine but just the taste of the pain meds make me wanna throw up.
