Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default Firefox 3

Anybody tried RC2 yet? Not sure I want to be a guinea pig, but it sounds like they have made it even faster in addition to new bells and whistles...

I've had RC1 running on my secondary PC for a week or so. Seems pretty stable.

+1 for using RC1 as well. I've been running the betas for over a month, Firefox 3 is great!

only dirty scandies use opera

also +1 for using rc1 well over the last few weeks on both work and home pcs (xp and vista, respectively)

i did a "check for update" and it didn't find anything from within firefox-- is rc2 not a push-down update?

Mine just updated about 10 minutes ago.

Firefox wisely staggers the push updates.

Well, Firefox 2.0 will not pull down an update for Firefox 3 pre-release stuff.

You'd need to go download that explicitly.

I guess you missed all the hub-bub about Firefox using FAR less memory in version 3 than it used to in version 2 (and memory related bugs fixed). Also, Opera doesn't support extensions so it's lame.

All I know about Opera was that the one time I tried installing it, not only was it so buggy that it crashed perpetually, it actually whacked my system so hard I had to reinstall windows.

Granted, that was in the Win95 era... but still. Screw Opera.

but that was 10+ yrs ago, Its much better now. It doesn't have all the plugins and shit but it does the basic stuff beautifully, and crash free! I have ff on this comp and I try to go back but I just can't get into it. I do use safari from time to time for zillow though.

safari is slow as dog shit, doesn't support extensions (without hacking) and doesn't have any of the features that opera has... also, it doesn't obey Apple's own HCI guidelines, which is hilarity

Its out today, as of 1PM EST (or 10AM here). They are trying to break the record for most downloads in a 24 hour period.

The servers are slammed right now.

I can't seem to reach mozilla.com or getfirefox.com

I just switched my main browser over to RC3 yesterday.

I just wish the tab mix plus plugin comes out soon.
