about six months ago, i threw a p1088, meaning my passenger side tgv was stuck open. i started my car up this morning, and i heard a funny clicking (not banging) coming from somewhere near the turbo/ intake manifold. i sat in the dr seat, and the cel was on. i read it with my ap, and it said p1090. so now both of my tgvs have failed??? anyone have any advice about what to do? i was thinking just doing a tgv delete, but if i need to i want to pass emissions.

Do you have a V1 or V2 AP? I have a copy of StreetTuner for an '02-'03 I'd sell cheap..

I have a v.2, and the race tuner software. I am able to delete the code. should I do the TGV delete? or more importantly, would anyone be willing to help me with the removal of them?

http://docs.google.com/Doc?id=djkrghz_22gnfd9mfs If you don't want to use the TGV Delete Kit as described, then you have to weld up the holes or the cheesey way is to tap the holes and plug them with screws. |

The grinding kinda sucks, but that is not absolutely necessary to do. The rest is very easy and takes less than 1/2 hour. Deleting the TGV's themselves is nothing compared to removing and replacing the intake manifold (which is required to get to the TGVs).

			What Scott said...

The fuel system and engine wiring harness comes off with it, so you have to undo all those connections to the engine and rest of the car. TGVs come off with manifold, so only manifold-head bolts need to be undone.

I think you can get away with leaving the wiring harness on the engine... just undo the fuel injector plugs, TPS/ICS, and the ground wires.

Having had both an '04 and '07 intake in my hands in the past week, I can assure you that those at least have the wiring and fuel system attached. I doubt the '02 is significantly different.

In fact... looking more closely at that picture, I can assure the '02 harness isn't that complicated. That big old plastic conduit under there doesn't even exist. It's just one wrapped/taped harness about 1.5 foot long, with some plugs coming out of it, only a few of which connect to the intake manifold. See page 142 of the 2002 Wiring FSM:
