Deal, did somebody say Deal? Oh, Dean, yeah that's me.
Default Anybody want to make a logo for me?

We have all the talented artists on here, so I thought I would hit you up for some help.

I asked Juice a while back, but then I flaked out and never got back to him on it.

This is for my company:
"Right Performance Solutions ...that meet your goals & needs without putting you in the red."

No commenting on the slogan. I do Business Process Automation, Computer Systems, Networking, other Technical and Automotive consulting and education. I know that is a lot, but so be it. I can fix your PC, install your network or phone system, manage your multi-million dollar technology project, help you pick your next car or tire and teach you how to use/drive all of the above.

The idea for the logo is an unlabeled gauge with a gradient of green, yellow and red with a needle quivering in the solid green area. So, a solid needle with a ghost or two left and right.

I channeled Sybir this morning and MSPainted it. I think the gradient should be either color radial lines getting denser until they are solid in the later section or a ramp going from a point to full height, but I am open to other ideas.

It has to shrink to be legible on a business card. I think I like the rectangle look rather than a round gauge, but what do I know.

Anybody want to take a shot?

My vague/under construction web site is up at either RightPS.com or for those of you who like to type, RightPerformanceSolutions.com

I told you I would AND I left a voice mail on your phone and you never called me back. The offer still stands.

Sorry. I confessed above to being a flake with you. I would appreciate anything you or anybody is willing to do.

Does what I described/drew make sense? Is "drew" a word? It sounds wrong.

Your drawing makes sense. When I am done with work today I will see if I can throw something together to get the idea moving in the right direction.

Not quite, I think the colors should be independent not bleed into each other gaining in intensity or quantity left to right.

Think of a Buick or Caddy wide rectangular speedometer that only sweeps 180 degrees is what I was thinking of only with Tach like coloring for approaching and hitting redline adding yellow and green zones, the later being 2/3rds or so of the gauge and yellow/red in the last third.

This is kind of it...

I imagine the color blocks as triangles though Small and pointy on the left and full height on the right for yellow and red. Green would do the same but be full height for the full middle third or so where the needle sits/vibrates..

Alternately, I see the color in a bar going from none to full intensity in the same manner left to right.

Here's my 5 minutes. Take it or leave it... I'm not going to "make the needle quiver more" unless you're paying.

Thanks Scott, that is amazing for 5 minuets and kind of cool. Colors are not quite what I was thinking of though.

My color idea/gradient is kind of:

Nothing, mostly nothing with a little green, a little more green, more green, lots of green, All green, all green, all green, nothing with a little yellow, more yellow, all yellow, nothing with a little red, more red, all red.... 3 distinct color ramps with green peaking and holding, the others peak and end.

Oh, and I don't need the text.

The winner might get a free dinner or something.

I wouldn't bother with worrying about the color gradients so much considering:

a) your slogan explicitly describes the logo anyway
b) it's not going to be noticeable at all in black/white

Good logos must be recognizable in b/w too.

And even though you didn't want feedback on the slogan... it's too long and redundant. Pick either "goals" or "needs"... they're synonyms in the context you're using them in. Might even want to make it just "Meet your goals without putting you in the red". "Your" may even be unnecessary, but it does convey a sense of personalization to the customer.

And even then, why is meeting a customers goal without bankrupting them your slogan? That seems like under-achieving... anyone that's in business should be doing that just as a bare minimum. Is the IT consulting field so bad that most of your competitors are spending more money than their customers are budgeting for them, so much so that it's your primary selling point that you won't do that to them?

I understand the metaphor of not over-revving, but it might be lost on people who aren't race enthusiasts. They're just going to see the "in the red" financial half of the pun.

OK, those types of comments on the slogan are fine. Thanks. Dropping "& needs" may be better. I'll have to play with it, but I will probably keep "your".

Cost savings, right sizing and bang for your buck are not what most retailers are focused on. Many want to sell you what they have, what they make more profit on, or is the newest fastest widget that you may or may not need.

Good consultants do focus on those, but seldom promote themselves that way. I thought in these times, a focus on value fit more than a focus on excellence or expertise. I may change it, but it is what I have for now and I like the double meaning, but would be willing to lose it for something better.

The majority of the logo use will be in color. Web site and business cards. Even invoices are color PDFs and so far, over 90% don't see paper at least on my end, so they could have a color logo as well.

Let me put it in a different context: a logo that works in black and white is likely even better in color. It's not to say color isn't important, but to say that shape and recognizeability is more important than matching the logo to the pun in your slogan.

Think of the color as the chalk lines at autocross. The course should stand on its own with just the cones alone. But the chalk will make it that much clearer.

I agree, and I am not talking about matching my slogan, but about aesthetics/design.

It is one of the reasons I described the colored areas as I did. Increasing density radial lines or "triangles" as both of those would be recognizable in B/W whereas color gradients/blend would not.

OK, I tried the 3 "triangles" and it looks like ass. The single triangle looks pretty good. I am too tired to try and make radial lines tonight.
