I "pay" for 10, but they actually lowered my monthly bill when I upgraded from 5...locked in for 12 months...

I pay ~$110/mo for internet and TV with DVR, HD, and two premium channels. I want to find out if they offer a better DVR though (1080p instead of 1080i and a faster/better interface).

Last time I checked, I couldn't get Uverse, but I would consider it.

Runing these tests from networks with active users (as you and Sperry are doing) is going to indicate the speeds that you have available to you, not what the network is actively capable of, as a whole. If you were to run the test at 4am, you'd likely see a different story.

Starting with a symetrical connection like T1/T3's and then adding users who compete for, primarily, download speed is going to cause the test to indicate a faster upload than download.

Around 5pm here, the network suddenly gets awesome. Sometimes I specifically wait 'til then to download logs from our server or check-in a bunch of changes to source control. It's the difference between waiting 90 minutes and waiting 5 minutes.

From an insiders perspective (I work for a contractor for Charter):

I have heard through the grapevine that Charter is increasing speeds across the board. And that they will be offering a 64 mb service in the near future.
