Default My Aunt Needs Your Prayers

So I found out today that my aunt whom I am very close to has ovarian cancer. They found it during a operation. She now has to undergo 2 weeks of kemo (sp?) and only has a 30% chance to live.

I am normally not religious, but I am hoping for the best. She lives in Tahoe and I visit her almost whenever I goup there.

Thanks....the hard part is knowing she will be in L.A. with my family doctor and I may not have a chance to see her after the kemo (sp?)

Thanks all. They don't expect her to make it more then 3 weeks since the chances of recovering after kemo are now down to 20%...and even if she does get through it, there is a 50% chance she will get it again. They have found the cancer on 7 parts of her body now.

Her name is Mary Witte Crawford. A great family. 2 kids. One is finishing med school top of his class....other played for the dolphins for years.

Just incase anyone likes to know....

She has Stage IIIC Ovarian Epithelial Cancer. This is the description:

Stage III

In stage III, cancer is found in one or both ovaries and has spread to other parts of the abdomen. Stage III is divided into stage IIIA, stage IIIB, and stage IIIC.

* Stage IIIA: The tumor is found only in the pelvis, but cancer cells have spread to the surface of the peritoneum (tissue that lines the abdominal wall and covers most of the organs in the abdomen).
* Stage IIIB: Cancer has spread to the peritoneum but is 2 centimeters or smaller in diameter.
* Stage IIIC: Cancer has spread to the peritoneum and is larger than 2 centimeters in diameter and/or has spread to lymph nodes in the abdomen.

Cancer that has spread to the surface of the liver is also considered stage III disease.

I might be flying out tomorrow.... again...thanks everyone.

Default Mary's Prayer

Dearest Lord,

Thank You for the immense blessings on this world. Thank you for the awesome gift of Mary who is loved by so many in her family. Lord I ask that You help Your child through this dark tunnel. Take her pain and fill her with Your strength. Lord I ask that You give Mary the doctors she needs whose wisdom and knowledge are centered on Your word. Lord guide them to the center of the cancer so they may utilize the new technologies to bring her cancer into remission. Lord I ask that You give Mary a heart for You. I ask that You use her for Your testimony. May she be a light to the those who treat her. Thank You in advance for hearing the prayers of those who love her. Our strength lies in You. Lord I ask that You touch Arthur and his family and strengthen them as well. If they believe, and they ask they shall receive according to Your word:

Matthew 21:21-22

Jesus replied, "I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, 'Go, throw yourself into the sea,' and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer."

Lord I know You answer prayers. I believe that it is in Your power to heal Mary. Please send an angel to watch over her and her family. I pray this in the precious name of Your son Jesus Christ.

Amen

Phase III Randomized Study of Paclitaxel and Carboplatin With or Without Gemcitabine, Doxorubicin HCl Liposome, or Topotecan in Patients With Stage III or IV Ovarian Epithelial or Serous Primary Peritoneal Carcinoma

UC Davis is doing clinicals on this very stage now. Some new breakout therapy of combining treatments to kill off the cancer. Our pastors wife actually works for a cancer research institute that uses a very aggressive therapy that is working-it is paving the way for future cancer survivors!!! I would be happy to put you in touch with her. Here is the information for the clinical trials at UC DAVIS.

University of California Davis Cancer Center

I will continue to be in prayer for your Aunt. When she is better I can share some awesome stories of people who have survived with less than a .001% chance-I do not know how they come up with that number but I know some extrodinary people who have fought this disease.

Thank! I will find out more tomorrow about the plans to help her. I know kemo isn't the last option, but I think its their first.

Im sorry art

They're not going to perform surgery? Is it because it's spread towards the abomin? I've had some experiance with this cancer and it usually requires an opperation?

I will find out the exact plan later today. I assume sugery might be difficul since its spread onto the liver, and other organs.

I'll let everyone know.

I wish her the best, Art - I'm really sorry to hear about that. One of my best friends has had two (2) separate bouts with extremely serious lymphoma here in the last five years... I hate cancer.
