Default Is it hot in here, or is it just me?

I just pulled the A/C from my car... well sorta.

I pulled the A/C compressor, and the lines (all but the small line that runs under the battery area, as it was gonna take like 3 hours of re-routing wires... I'll get to that the next time the car is apart further). I didn't touch anything under the dash, and I left the heat exchanger in front of the radiator since I don't have the time or the energy to drop the rad today.

But even w/ just the compressor and bracket off the car, I gotta think that's at least 25 lbs off the front of the car.

Oh man your car is going to be hot.

Did you do this for weight or to make room for a cool engine add on?

Well, the A/C is out of the engine bay completely, aside from one small tube that's got a bunch of wires zip-tied to it, so I didn't want to take it out and have to re-wire all the attached stuff.

I ditched the condenser, and the stock radiator (thanks to Van for buying it off me in record time!). In went the Koyo rad... that thing is *massive*. There's virtually no room between the fans an the belts any longer. I also removed my top-mount oil cooler, and put a slightly smaller oil cooler in the front grill, where the additional airflow should more than make up for the smaller core.

The only sad thing is that my SuperTones lost their home. I hooked up one of the stock horns... so now the car sounds pretty comical w/ its single note horn. I think the SuperTones will need to be relocated to the truck.

Could you put the supertones in the fender(s)?

Are you going to pull the stuff from the center console?

I wonder if I should mount up the RA1's and run w/o the T modifier in the heat?

3500 pound Stealth, Lovelock, July, or august, Brand new RA1s driven all the way there from Reno at a brisk pace 10 minutes earleir just get colder and colder, and less sticky each run to the point where street tires would have been much better. RA1s + Autocross = slow...

Single driver will be easy on the 615s, two drivers are going to have to work at it... And I run 3/4 crap.

I figured as much. I guess I'll need to just unmount the 615's after this weekend and mount the RA1's before the trials next weekend.

Unless you've got the RPF1's off your WRX you'd be willing to loan me until my hub conversion goes through?

Not really. The have the mixed 215/615 set on them right now. Rental would be 1 set of new 615s when these wear out.

That's a terrible deal.

On a side note, I don't think my RE070's are going to make it to the end of the season

I think I'll need some 615's soon. It will be nice to get rid of those little 225/45 though.

Since I'm going to be out of town and therefore Tyson will be without his R-compound fix I say you mount the RA-1s and two-driver that bitch. The hot weather will keep the casual autocrossers away and the low turnout should guarantee a minimal amount of tire-cooling minutes between runs.

You gotta be kidding me... $600 in tires to borrow a set of wheels for a weekend?

Sorry, I misread your request, and/or was not clear in my response

I thought you were talking about for the rest of the season, and since they have rubber on them that you would put the RA1s on your wheels.

If you want to borrow them, dismount the tires, mount yours, balance, dismount, remount, balance, and return, the cost would only be dinner at Bully's. I can't imagine why you would want to do that though.

I was hoping your rims were bare, or the tires were kaput. That would save me half the work, plus I could bring my street tires with me as spares in case I cut down a tire or something.

Otherwise, I'm just going to go through that whole deal with my own rims and tires, and run w/o a set of spares in the truck.

huh? When I first read this, I saw the word 'trunk', what does running without a set of spares in the truck have to do with this? Are you worried about the RA's wearing out before Track Trials? In any case, with the lighter weight it'll be exciting to watch how your car does this weekend.

If I cut/blister a tire on track, without any spares in the truck, my event is over, probably w/o any scored laps. Having a set of spares ready to go means I can swap back to the street tires and still record a timed lap.
