I believe all four have to be the same. I vaguely remember them mentioning something like that in one of the Australia broadcasts.

The FIA has banned the use of traction control in Formula One from 2008 onwards. The change in regulation has been backed by all the teams and by the FIA, who has already taken action to cut the use of advanced technology in the sport in a bid to improve the racing.

The governing body's council met earlier this week and approved of the ban to traction control, which had originally been permitted in 2001.

The new rules state: "No car may be equipped with a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power or of compensating for excessive throttle demand by the driver.

"Any device or system which notifies the driver of the onset of wheel spin is not permitted."

What I like is that technically, a clutch is now illegal since it's "a system or device which is capable of preventing the driven wheels from spinning under power".

I'm pretty sure in an F1 car you can't hear the onset of wheelspin from the cockpit... not with the radio/hearing protection earpieces the driver's wear, plus the helmet, plus the *insane* volume of the motor.

Recognizing wheelspin is done by noticing the discrepancy between engine rpm and acceleration. If the motor is screaming, and your eyes are still round... the wheels are spinning.

That's only if you consider eyes to be a device that aides the driver, and not part of the driver himself.

de la Rosa ran today both with and without, and thinks there is a minor improvement. It sounds, though, like there is a small chance they won't use it.

The team ran the MP4-22 with and without the new design to evaluate its effectiveness, as Pedro de la Rosa set the third fastest time.

Sources have suggested that the team were impressed with the new wing during straightline testing with it in Menorca last week and, although preliminary impressions were good in Barcelona today, further work will be conducted on it for the remainder of the week.

"We did some work on the aerodynamics, continuing the work from Menorca and there is a small improvement," de la Rosa told autosport.com. "Fernando will try other aero stuff to see how things are tomorrow. It was a satisfactory day. It is a small improvement and every bit counts."

Fortunately for everyone involved, it doesn't look like they'll be using them in the race.
