Some mistakes are too much fun to only make once
Default Racing this weekend

Hey guys,

I am the ultimate NOOB. If I come this weekend.

What Class would my 05 STi run in?
What can I expect to do?
Would I be racing against a clock?
Or apponents?
Helmut required?

I have many more questions, I just don't know what to ask. So, please fill me in as you see fit.

Stock STI will run in A Stock - Street Tire (TAS) or you could run in E Street Prepared - Street Tire (TESP) or Street Touring Unlimited (STU). It all depends on what (if any) mods you have.

If you are stock, I believe it is still an advantage to run in TESP.

You will be racing against a clock, not other opponets.

A helmet is required, but they have some loaners available.

The only mod I have, if you can call it that, is a radar detector. LOL

Definitely run in TESP. It has a better multiplier than TAS even, despite allowing mods.

Expect to go, turn, and stop repeatedly in rapid succession. Expect also to hit some cones and/or DNF once or twice. If you don't you aren't trying hard enough.

Actually, we should encourage all new people to run in the

"N" = Novice class that will be run once in the morning, and once in the afternoon.

Theoretically, here will be a novice chief worker to help them, and so forth...

Come out and have fun, don't worry about mods, class, etc...

I hope you'll come out and give it a try.

A helmet is nice to have (needs to be Snell-rated), but if you don't have your own there are loaners available.

Renoscca.com used to have a Newbie's guide linked somewhere, but I can't find it now. But, the following does have some useful information as well:

http://www.tirerack.com/features/solo2/handbook.htm

Assuming you may want to start out in our novice class, you can participate in the morning or the afternoon. If you run in the morning you should get there no later than 8-8:30, to register, unload your car & get it through the tech inspection, and have enough time to walk the course. For the afternoon session, get there by 11-11:30.

You will drive in one run group, and be a course worker in the opposite run group. (You'll be shown the ropes on what to do as a course worker.)

Once you're serious about competing for season points - there is a scheduled time you need to be there for the car class you are in. For example, this Saturday all street tire class cars run in the afternoon; and on Sunday they run in the morning.

Crap, I totally forgot about that... and I was part of the discussion about it at the march meeting. Chris, Brian, and others who haven't runa season yet, you should all run in novice. you'll get more runs and mroe experience.

Definately Run Novice!!!! You will get added seat time if you choose, as well as some guidance. Also, if you decide later you want to accumulate season points, the runs you made can carry over. WIN WIN
