Default Burning Man

speaking of Black Rock, on my way home up I80 on Sunday, I saw a good # of cars traveling to Burning Man, some with the BM symbol on their windows. At first I didn't realize what all these cars were caravaning to, and they had long poles, chairs, barbecues, and all kinds of stuff that looked like they were going on a long camping trip -- until I saw those symbols... they must be getting an early start to setting up the city...

Actually, People have been setting up for a few weeks now, but the event officially started on Monday. Its a week long, so people file in from Sunday to Friday, with the Big night being Saturday night. Then most of the population leaves on Sunday morning. And the event officially ends Sunday. I'm leaving wed morning, and returning Sunday afternoon, some freinds of mine went out Monday to save our space.

Matt, you should bring the STi out there and just drift around the place in 2nd gear at the readline for like 3 days straight, only stopping for gas, tires and food.

I did that in the wagon once, only not during burning man. I went out there to top out my car, and drift a bit...Talk about an awesome time...We should go do that, we could film some bad ass drift movies out there.

I'm gonna drift the golf cart, you'll see

Something tells me that day would end with some "how could this accident have been avoided" footage of a Subaru rolling in the desert.

This wouldn't be a good place for rally cross now would it?! Who owns the land? I wonder what the insurance issues would be...

It would be a great place for rally cross, only its flat, BLM land mostly, they have special events on it though, (obviously), other than Burning Man, they have windsail races, Land speed record runs, (like Bonneville Salt flats). It would be sweet.

I've got no problem with flat rallycross... hills means higher chance to roll... flat means drift style autocross!

I think a contest is in order - on our way back from Lovelock on Sunday, whoever spots the most happy hippy crappy buses wins a drink on me at the next meet at the 4th Turn... you have to get their license plate #'s to compete.
